Wildlife & Safari Tours – Complete Guide
There is a thrill in seeing a tiger in the wild that no zoo can match. The silence of the jungle, the alertness of the guide, and then suddenly – a flash of stripes between the trees. Your heart stops for a second. This is why wildlife safari tours are becoming so popular among Indian travellers.
At Indian Travellers, located at Unit no. 237, Raghuleela Mall, Kandivali West, Mumbai, we organize wildlife safari tours to India’s best national parks and tiger reserves. Whether you are a serious wildlife photographer or a family wanting an adventurous holiday, we have a package for you.
In this blog, we will cover India’s top wildlife destinations, what animals you can see, the best time to visit, and everything included in our wildlife safari tours.
Why Choose a Wildlife Safari Holiday
A wildlife holiday is different from a regular vacation. You are not rushing between cities or standing in long lines at temples. You are sitting in an open jeep, breathing fresh air, and waiting for nature to surprise you.
Here is why wildlife safari tours are loved by different types of travellers.
For families: Children love spotting animals. A tiger sighting becomes a story they tell for years.
For couples: Jungle lodges are peaceful and romantic. Morning safaris and evening bonfires create special memories.
For solo travellers: Wildlife photography and bird watching are fulfilling solo activities. You also meet like-minded people on group safaris.
For senior citizens: Safaris are not physically demanding. You sit in the jeep and the driver handles everything.

Types of Safaris We Offer
Jeep Safari: The most popular option. A private jeep takes 6 people. You have more flexibility and better photography angles. Recommended for families and photographers.
Canter Safari: A larger open vehicle for 12 to 20 people. Cheaper than a jeep but less flexible. Good for budget travellers and large groups.
Elephant Safari: Available only in Kaziranga and a few other parks. You sit on an elephant and go deep into grasslands. This gets you very close to rhinos.
Walking Safari: Guided nature walk inside the forest. Not available in tiger reserves but offered in some sanctuaries. Good for bird watchers and nature lovers.

Best Time for Wildlife Safari Tours
October to February: Pleasant weather. Forests are green after monsoon. Animal sightings are good but vegetation can hide animals.
March to June: Hot weather but best for sightings. Animals come to waterholes. Tigers are easier to spot. Summer months (May-June) are peak for tiger sightings.
July to September: Most parks are closed for monsoon. Only a few parks like Jhirna zone in Corbett remain open. Not recommended for first-time visitors.
Tips for a Successful Wildlife Safari
Book safaris in advance: Popular parks like Corbett and Ranthambore sell out months in advance. Book at least 60 to 90 days before your trip.
Wear neutral colours: Avoid white, red, or bright colours. Wear green, brown, or beige to blend with the forest.
Carry binoculars: Tigers may be far away. Binoculars help you see better, especially for bird watching.
Be patient: Wildlife is not a zoo. You may not see a tiger in one safari. The thrill is in the waiting.
Follow park rules: Do not stand up in the jeep. Do not shout. Do not litter. Do not get off the vehicle.
Keep camera ready: Tigers can appear suddenly and disappear quickly. Keep your camera on and lens cap off.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is it safe to go on wildlife safari tours?
Yes. You are always in a vehicle with an experienced driver and guide. Tigers do not attack vehicles. Follow the guide’s instructions and you will be completely safe.
What is the chance of seeing a tiger?
In Bandhavgarh and Ranthambore, the chance is 70-80% over 3 to 4 safaris. In Corbett and Kanha, it is 50-60%. In Kaziranga, you come for rhinos, not tigers.
Can children go on safaris?
Yes. Children above 5 years are allowed. They must sit quietly and not stand up. Many families bring children to our wildlife safari tours and they love the experience.
What is the difference between a national park and a tiger reserve?
All tiger reserves are national parks, but not all national parks are tiger reserves. Tiger reserves have special protection for tigers under Project Tiger.
Do you provide camera equipment?
No. You must bring your own camera. For good tiger photos, a lens of at least 200mm to 400mm is recommended.
How many safaris should I book?
For a good chance of spotting a tiger, book 3 to 4 safaris (morning and evening over 2 days). For general wildlife and bird watching, 2 safaris are enough.
